October is Careers in Construction Month! This month, we raise awareness of the well-paying jobs that are available in the home building and related trade professions. As many construction workers near retirement, more than 245,000 residential building jobs are open each month. Career and Technical Education students are well positioned to fill this gap. Workforce development is vital to help shape the next generation of builders. Thank you to Governor Armstrong who has officially declared October as Careers in Construction Month in North Dakota!
NDAB will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary during our Annual Banquet & Meeting of the Members on November 3rd in Minot. While in Minot we will also have various committee meetings and our Fall Board Meeting. We look forward to hosting NAHB’s First Vice Chairman Bob Peterson in North Dakota. We encourage all members to make the trip to Minot as we induct our 2027 Board of Directors, 2027 President Jeff Haider, and announce our 2026 award winners.
At the start of September, NDAB had the honor of being a guest at Governor Armstrong’s residence in Bismarck for the Western Governors' Association (WGA) breakfast. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a long-standing partner and supporter of the WGA, a bipartisan organization that represents the governors of 22 of the westernmost states and territories. Also, last month, the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) hosted Community Housing Needs Forums in Mandan, Minot, Fargo, and Dickinson. The forums focused on housing needs in each region, including potential improvements that could help make building more feasible and effective.

Save the date for the Area 10 Leadership Conference in 2027, which will be held in Sioux Falls, SD on April 1-2. Attendees of the conference will include emerging leaders, Executive Officers and staff across North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. This training is uniquely designed to offer sessions that support the professional development of both member leaders and HBA staff. Further information will be provided soon.
